PEAT Project

The PEAT Project is a community-led local development programme that aims to increase economic activity and business growth in the South East area of Wakefield District.

Standing for People Enabling Area Transformation, PEAT will run within the area of Airedale, Castleford, Ferrybridge, Havercroft & Ryhill, Kinsley & Fitzwilliam, South Elmsall, South Kirkby and Hemsworth.

Part financed by the European Structural and Investment Fund, it gives a voice to those who live and work in those areas. The project will allow those people to have a say on projects that support local people and businesses so they grow and increase work opportunities.

The PEAT Project has secured funding to provide grants to organisations, groups and businesses to deliver projects that will:

  • Fuel community and business growth
  • Support enterprise
  • Help those furthest from work access opportunities
